How to modify the Standard PDF

NOTE: This article refers to the Standard PDF. If you are looking to customize your PDF using the PDF Designer, please click here.

Want to have more control over your PDFs? Now, you have the ability to remove the details from your lists, choose the size of your photos, signatures, and drawings, and add page breaks. 

Page Breaks

You can also force a page break in your PDF after any field or screen in your App. If you would always like to have your completed PDF shows page break between certain fields or screens, follow the instructions below:

1. Log into your account and go to Apps.
2. Click the Edit icon to open up your app in the App Builder.
3. Locate the screen or field that you would like to add a page break after.
4. Click to open the Field Settings then expand the More tab.
   
   
    
5. Check the box for Page Break After to force a new page after that field.

For Screens

1. Click to open the Screen Settings.
   
   
    
2. Check the box beside Page break after.

When you have finished making changes, be sure to Save and Publish to device.

Tiling Images

You can tile your images on the GoCanvas generated PDF with three thumbnailed images across the page. This comes in handy when you have a screen with multiple images that you would like to show left to right. To enable follow the instructions below.

1. Log into your account and go to Apps.
2. Click Edit icon to open up your app in the App Builder.
3. Locate your image fields. Click the field to open the Field Settings and expand the Standard PDF tab.
4. Check the option for Tile Photo.
   
   
   

Once you publish your App, the next Submission you complete will have the images selected tiled across the page.

Note: Regardless of the image size you select, tiled images will always show as the smallest size.

Sizing Images, Signatures and Drawings

You can now select the size you wish your images, signatures, and drawings to show as on the GoCanvas generated PDF. To edit image size, follow these steps:

1. Locate your Photo, Signature, or Drawing field in the App Builder. Click on the field to open the Field Settings.
2. Expand the Standard PDF tab and locate the "Size" drop down for the field.  
   
    
   
   When Editing your Photo or Drawing field, you will see five options size: smallest, thumbnail, small, medium or largest. 
   
   Note: You can't tile your image and have it in any other size than smallest.
    
3. Save your App and Publish to device.

Hiding Screens

By default, the visibility is set to Always for all screens. You can hide any screen you wish on the GoCanvas generated PDF by selecting Never for the PDF Visible option.
