We do not support Blackberry at all anymore. Moving forward we will continue to support folks on Windows desktops, laptops, and tablets via our current desktop client. We made a decision to focus our development and innovation efforts around iOS, Android, and Windows Desktop.
Why don't you support Blackberry and Windows Phone?
A very small sliver of our customer base uses these devices, and a small sliver of the overall global market for mobile devices use these operating systems. When we look at new people signing up for our service, we see very few people using these devices. We made an investment in Blackberry PlayBook (remember that device?!) and in Windows Phone 8 and the usage of those clients was a lot lower than expected.
We hate to alienate anyone from using GoCanvas, but the cost and effort of maintaining all of the platforms we did in the past simply wasn't paying off and it limited our ability to do more on the devices that the large, large majority of our customers were using.
How will we support Microsoft moving forward?
Our Windows desktop client runs on desktops and laptops running Windows 8 and higher. It will also run on versions of the Microsoft Surface tablets that are running Windows Pro. It will also run on versions of the Microsoft Surface tablets that are running Windows Pro. You will not find our Desktop client in the Microsoft Markeplace, but you can download it on our website.
It will NOT run on tablets running Windows 8 RT (Early versions of the Surface tablet).
We will continue to closely monitor Microsoft as their mobile strategy evolves.
How do I download the Microsoft Windows (8 and above) client?
Visit our website and click "Windows (Windows 8 & higher)".
Can current users continue to use the existing version of these clients?
Yes. As long as the app is not uninstalled, current users can continue to use the Windows Mobile, Blackberry, and the Windows 8 clients as is.
Will we fix any bugs or defects associated with these platforms?
No. We have decided our efforts are better spent optimizing iOS, Android, and Windows Desktop for the large majority of our subscribers.
Will we add new features to these platforms?
No. We had not added any new features to these platforms for at least a year prior to February of 2016. We have decided our efforts are better spent optimizing iOS, Android, and Windows Desktop for the large majority of our subscribers.
