Yes, GoCanvas offers Barcode scanning for Android and iOS devices.
GoCanvas will receive data from any barcode scanner that has a supporting "scan wedge" application that is compatible with a GoCanvas-supported operating system.
For Android:
If you are using GoCanvas version 9.2 or above, you no longer need a separate barcode scanning app. The app now natively works with the types of scanners supported by Zebra Crossing, including:
- Aztec
- Codabar
- Code 128
- Code 39
- Code 93
- Datamatrix
- EAN-13
- EAN-8
- PDF417
- QR
- UPC-A
- UPC-E
- ITF
- RSS-14
- RSS-Expanded
If you are using GoCanvas version 9.1 or below, you will need an additional barcode scanning app. There are several free apps in the Google Play Store that are compatible with GoCanvas, many of which utilize Zebra Crossing software:
When you click to scan a barcode in your GoCanvas app, you will have the option to open the third-party scanner.
For iOS (iPad/iPhone/iPodTouch):
You can scan barcodes in the main GoCanvas app without additional setup.
We recommend testing your barcode scanner on the device you want to use in the field in advance, to ensure that the third-party app will accept the barcode type. If you are unable to scan a barcode in your GoCanvas app, contact us.
